Brakes! BRAKES!!!

This week has been all about three things:

  • I had a head cold
  • I had an engine course
  • I had a party night on Friday
The head cold has been with me all week and was a complete pain for my (rather in-depth) gas turbine engine course. Not only did it hamper the course, it also hampered the evening revision...

... Fortunately I managed to scrape a pass (100%) so I was able to let my hair down on Friday night and go to the mess for the Christmas draw. An evening of socialising, singing and dancing ensued and when we finally got home it was nearly 2am.

Saturday was a write off.

Today is still going slow.

As a result of what has been going on, I have managed to partially base coat my diorama and that is about it... so nothing to see here, I am afraid.

In other news, I have taken on a very small and straightforward sculpting commission for a fellow hobbyist. Three little 20mm sculpts for a few pounds in the bank... which is nice.

Which nicely leads me on to this... LINK (be warned, it is a Frothers link). It is also an army competition that I came joint first in with my Mushroom Men:

Click the Pic!

Now this got me thinking... these Mushroom men have always fired some people's enthusiasm so I thought I'd throw it out there to see if there was anyone who would be willing to sell them if I sculpted a new batch. It appears that there are two such companies who would be willing to take them on so I have a bit of an opportunity to fire up my sculpting tools again and make a few pennies into the process. The beauty is that there is no pressure. It is just the idea at the moment and there is no contract or anything... even if when they are finished, the original offers fall through, I will still have a group of sellable miniatures ready to be sold.

Interesting times are ahead... but in the meantime, I must get back to painting my diorama!

See you from the hobby seat!

Sunday's diversion.

I can sum up my weekend with one word... frustration.

I have been keen to get on with something but couldn't decide what so I just wound myself up and didn't achieve much at all. I sometimes have times like that; when I have a number of projects I want to get on with but my mind is not on it at all. When it happens, it is really aggravating but I just have to calm myself down and choose something different to do... so that is what I did.

Saturday, I went shopping (as usual) and spent some of my Christmas/birthday vouchers on a pair of graphic novels (Marvel: Civil War and Inhumans). I haven't read them yet but they look entertaining. During my trip around the town, I could really feel myself getting wound up so we had to cut the trip short, lest I did something daft and when I got home I decided to dig something out of the cupboard that was completely different to all of my current projects... and I managed to finish the items off. Here are some pix:

Click the Pic!

Click the Pic!

As you can see, they are a pair of mutated Mushroom Men from Outer Space! The top one is a poison spore launcher and the lower one is a mystic with deformed arm. Both of these have been sat in the cupboard for ages so it is about time they were finished. I still need to varnish them (they are still a bit shiny) but they can now join their big brother in the Mushroom army:

Click the Pic!

In other news, I decided to put together some trophies for the winners of the Unofficial Diorama of Doom and thought that some of my own sculpts/casts would be appropriate so I dug out three of my Dwarf divers and added some bases... here are the finished trophies:

Click the Pic!

There are very few of the divers out there now and there were only fifty cast in the first place so these are quite a limited edition... and worthy to be presented as a prize (I still have two more but one will always be mine and the other will have to be either a freebie or sold for charity).

Even though I have changed tack this weekend, I did manage to work on the Clankers during the week and have got a good way through base-coating the last unit. I expect them to get finished this week and then I can tick another box.

Phew! It's all going on here!

See you from the massage chair!

A change of tack...

After my Eureka moment, I sculpted on the required elements for Beast to look like his comic counterpart and that spurred me on to get him painted:

Click the Pic!

I am in the process of deciding whether to sell him on so his base has been painted in a street style. If I decide to keep him, I'll add sand like all my other miniatures get.

Sitting at the sculpting table can be an odd thing. Sometimes you are keen to jump in and start from scratch and other times you are just looking for a simple fix. This next picture is an example of a simple fix. It is a Mushroom Spore-Launcher for my Agarix army and all it took to finish it was to smooth down the crown...so he is now finished:

Click the Pic!

I think he is functional and will get a bit more detail in the painting process.

The Grymn Super-Soldier project is still moving along at a great pace. On the corks at the moment are Iron Man and She-Hulk.

Iron Man will be getting a mix of film and comic styling and is well on the way to getting his legs and body finished at the moment...OH, THOSE PANEL LINES!!!!

She-Hulk is a little less further along but will be getting the same costume as the chibi version here:

Click the Pic!

In fact, if I could get her to look like the picture, I'd be really happy. I prefer the more clothed look of this costume rather than the more exposing costume of the mainstream comics...I also prefer the boots as they give a little more colour to the figure.

Well...that is about it for today.

See you from the hole in the garden!

Not the best of weeks...

On Sunday, I travelled up to Newcastle for work. On Sunday night, my son (who is 15) is taken to hospital in an ambulance. Things are pretty steady but he gets no better and I travel back from Newcastle on the train on Tuesday.

I have been going backwards and forwards to the hospital since then...

Fortunately, things are picking up and my lad is starting to eat/drink and is no longer on a drip so he may well be coming home at some point early next week, if things go well.

Tired? Yep!
Worried? Not quite so much, now that he is eating/drinking.
Busy? Very!

Life really does have a habit of throwing a curve-ball just to keep you on your toes.

My son has been an absolute credit to himself and our little family unit. He hasn't complained and has behaved like a perfect gent. I am a very proud father.

...

Mushrooms seem to be the flavour of the moment...there are more to come.

see you through the windscreen :).

Amost...but not quite.

I have been beavering away like a maniac beaver...but I haven't managed to finish this one :( . That said, I finished sculpting it and have got quite a way through painting it. Another highlight here and there, finishing the base and maybe adding a few splodges on the crown and it will be done...

...so here is my WIP Mushroom-man-from-outer-space Shaman:

Click the pic!

I would have waited to post it until it was finished but I am going away for a week with my lovely job so I won't have time to finish it until after I get back.

I hope you like him :).

He is proof that channelling powerful space magic is a dangerous and deforming thing to do.

See you between the shutters!

A busy day

Before I start with today's post I'd like to welcome a new follower to Inso's World; crowmag99...Welcome! I hope you enjoy your sojourn through the labyrinth that is my world!

So...where do I start? Well I have been doing a bit of drill practice over the last couple of weeks and have attended the Festival of Remembrance today...I'm in amongst this lot somewhere:

Click the Pic!

It was a solemn affair, as you would expect; with the reading of the names of the fallen of the village being the most poignant. It is only when you listen to the surnames of those who fell in the various wars that you understand that some families were decimated...sometimes as many as five of the males in a family were killed during WW1...effectively ending the family unit. A terrible price and one that should be remembered.

So...

This week I have been ticking away with the easy stuff again and have put the base coat on the first of the Brutish Dogs:

Click the Pic!

I reckon that it looks so much better now that it isn't pink! It obviously has a long way to go...ink wash and highlight...details etc...

Now I really didn't fancy slapping a wash on it this week...so I assembled the second one and gave it a quick base coat:

Click the Pic!

As you can see, the mech project is ticking along nicely...

I don't know if I have mentioned it but the other day a friend of mine brought me a present...a piece of old fish-tank backing...the foam, rock textured backing that you see at the back of aquariums. Well I thought it would look nice as a bit of backing for my photographs so I have started to paint it up (after re-doing the texture with Polycell) and just have a bit of sand to add to it to finish it off...Here is an Ogarix to show it off a bit:

Click the Pic!

On top of this I have paint-stripped a bunch of miniatures (to be revealed at a later date) and have put all of my Tyranids into a nice case...so generally speaking, I have managed to achieve nothing of detail...but lots of 'general' stuff. Hopefully my coming week of leave will let me recoup a little sleep and help me get back to some more detailed work again...or not...who knows?

See you through the poppies...

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Mushroom power...

As promised, here's a quick update on the MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE!!! First up is a bit more progress on the Shaman:

Click the Pic!

Next is a bit more progress on one of the puff-ball-bombers. The pic has a 28mm scale miniature for scale comparison:

Click the Pic!

Both of the above are still very WIP but they are also in the process of drying...so that will be all I can do on them for now :).

Finally, here is the next miniature on the painting table...the Meesan Boss (a):

Click the Pic!

He is slightly different to the last one in that he has an extra digit on each hand and also has some sort of weapon in his palms...weird, or what?! He will be getting his shiny coat of paint/wash over the next week...well, if I get my act together, it will be done by Wednesday...

See you through the stained glass!

Sunday; Purple Sunday!

I guess it is another Sunday...time is flying by! I went out to a birthday party last night and the lady in question was 40...that will be me next year! Will it be special? No...another day older, another day less to wander around aimlessly on the surface ;).

Sooo...what the heck have I been doing? Well, a few days ago someone on the Forum of Doom wanted to see what a Meesan Boss (b) looked like. I happened to have one that I received at Salute so I assembled it and took some pix (seeing as I am quite a helpful chap really ;) ). Once it was assembled, I thought I may as well paint it so I decided to use a slightly different palette:

Click the Pic!

For anyone interested, here is the low-down on the painting (all GW paints/washes):

Undercoat - Dheneb Stone.
Basecoat (skin/warts) - Chainmail.
First wash (skin/warts) - Leviathan Purple.
Second wash (warts only) - Asurmen Blue.
Third wash (skin/warts) - Leviathan Purple.

Eyes/ Mouth - wash with Devlan Mud.
basecoat (eyes) - Bad Moon Yellow.
wash (eyes) - Thraka Green.

Basecoat (teeth/claws) - Vermin Brown.
First highlight (teeth/claws) - Vomit Brown.
final highlight (teeth/claws) - 50/50 Bleached bone/Vomit Brown.

Basecoat (base) - Beastial Brown.
Highlight (base) - drybrush with Vomit Brown.
Basecoat (base rim) - Chaos Black.

Job complete!

There were a couple of reasons for the metallic look. First, it was something different and I thought it was fitting for an alien. Secondly, I was using this as an experiment for when I paint some fish people that I have...using washes over a metallic basecoat will be how I will be painting them and I need to practice to see how different washes interact with each other.

Just wait until you see the second Meesan Boss I have...more use of an interesting mix of washes...

Onto other things and my parcel arrived on Thursday so I was able to assemble, convert and paint the final three members of the command squad for my Grymn tunnel fighters...here is the complete squad:

Click the Pic!

For those of you who have been following the build up of this army, you may notice a lack of certain elements that were originally planned in to each squad.

I have decided NOT to use the tracked, shield robots because they placed too many restrictions on the type of transport I could use for the troops. The Comms robots could fit where the Grymn could but the tracked ones would be bigger...and that didn't fit with me (it also saves a lot of work for the time being). I have also left out the 'special' elements of the command squad; namely the panda, big robot and hover-bot. Again, I didn't think they fitted with the austere look of the army so I have left them out.

All of the elements that I have omitted will still end up being used but for different projects so they will get finished in the long run.

The tunnel fighter army now has 66 troops, 7 comms-robots, 6 mini-Mawes and 3 walkers. I have another 3 walkers to add (at the moment) and plan to flesh out the army with a bunch of transports...stay tuned for those :) .

The MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE!!! have not been forgotten. I have been chipping away at the shaman and using up any left over putty on the puff-ball-bombers so there is progress going on all of the time with those. I should have the shaman's body finished today (minus the arms) so there may be another update to the blog a bit later on today (with some pix).

Another sculpting project I have on the go is a small commission to convert a Space Marine to specific requirements. I haven't been told not to show pix so when I get anywhere with the project, I'll show off what I have achieved.

I have started to 'recycle' the Trade Federation, droid-tank that I bought from the charity shop...re-gluing a kit that had to be pulled to bits is a frustrating thing to do...so it is a VERY SLOW PROCESS...but when it is finished, it will be something different and useful...

See you through the sunshine!

The spores are contageous!

I seem to have got the mushroom bug. I blame the fact that I am waiting for a parcel and have become twitchy to a point where I have started to obsess about something new. Let's face it, the painted version of my Ogarix has kicked my mushroom-muse into gear and no sooner had I finished it, I wanted to sculpt some more...starting with a Shaman. Have a look at this very WIP pic of some mushrooms:

Click the Pic!

The top pic is of the shaman, a twisted wretch of a MUSHROOM MAN FROM OUTER SPACE!!! but with the added bonus of having an 'all seeing' eye of great psychic power. Once I have finished the sculpt, it will have a few extra arms so that it could be used for sci-fi and fantasy...maybe one really deformed, one with a tree-like staff and one with a power rod that looks a little like the Ogarix's club...but a bit longer.

The lower pic is of three puff-ball-bombers...little MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE!!! that are quite cute...up until they explode right next to you, showering you with poisonous spores and knocking you over with the force of the explosion.

The Shaman will be about 45mm tall and the puff-ball-bombers will be about 20mm tall.

Isn't life funny sometimes.

See you through the spore choked room!

Early post...for a Sunday change.

Before I start with today's update, I'd like to Welcome tim_b42 and Si, as new followers to the blog. Welcome to both of you and I hope you enjoy some of the more varied aspects of this place.

Speaking of varied aspects, I've gone from Grymn Tunnel Fighters, to waiting for Grymn to arrive and finally to...what can I do to keep me busy while I wait? Well, Friday saw the Mushroom Ogre get his sculpting finished and today he gets his coat of paint finished:

Click the Pic!

He is an Ogarix and was originally sculpted to join the band of MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE!!! that I was converting up. The race as a whole are called Agarix and the original miniatures were from Hasslefree Miniatures and they are pictured, in their converted and finished state (I painted their bases today...they have been waiting for this for a very long time!), below:

Click the Pic!

The Agarix miniatures don't come with weapons so I added some to give them that menacing ALIEN INVADER look.

For a final bit of cheese...Protect the mushroom god!!!:

Click the Pic!

Why didn't I get the Ogarix cast? That is a question I have been asked a lot and here is a list of reasons:

1) It is huge and would need to be cast in resin...I'm not a fan of resin.
2) It has a mix of materials which mean it would have to be cast in resin...see above.
3) The putty I used was old and full of little lumps. Some of the lumps were impossible to remove so throughout the sculpt there are little lumps of un-cured putty...also the surface is not very smooth.
4) He has a really 'half-arsed' weapon that isn't good enough really.
5) I didn't want this to be a measure of the quality of my sculpting. When I release a mini I want people to be impressed with it's quality...not disappointed.

So...that is why it didn't get cast.

That doesn't mean that no one will get the chance to own one...I plan to sculpt a few new big mushrooms over the coming few months and they will be of the required quality to cast...watch this space!

On to other news...I knew it was going to happen...someone else has sculpted 15mm Space Dwarfs. It is also quite likely that the guys who have been patiently waiting for me to finish mine have bought them...and if that is the case, I don't blame them because I have been exceptionally tardy. That said...I have taken this new development in the miniatures world as a bit of a kick in the pants to get my little guys finished...even if they aren't necessarily going to end up where I wanted them (it is all rumours and conjecture...so I guess we'll see).

To finally get some movement on the 15mm Dwarf project I am going to completely finish one and then see how it goes from there. The first one is almost there...I only need to add feet and a head and then tidy up the gun a bit and he is finished. Seeing as I have posted so early today...I may have finished pix later (if I don't get too sidetracked today)...we'll have to see.

Note to self...don't plaster your unfinished 15mm Space Dwarfs all over the web when you are too lazy to get them finished quickly...SOMEONE will beat you to the prize!

I have a small commission to work on. I am building a Space Marine for a bloke in Belgium. He is sending me a plastic marine and I will be making it all pretty, like :). As I get things done, I'll show it off here...I'm doing the job for a pittance so there will be no complaints :).

Well I guess that food shopping awaits so I'll see you through the bottom of the coffee mug :).

Friday, 14 May 2010

Thank fungi, it's Friday!

I have no more Grymn to work on (apart from the 60 or so that are waiting for another project...but they are all the wrong type)...so I had to do something...but what?

It is at times like these that I look through my hobby cupboards for inspiration and as I looked, I spied something that had been lurking in the depths, unfinished, for too long...

Click the Pic!

The above pic is of an Agarix Majoris...more commonly known as a Mushroom Ogre from space! He has been almost finished for far too long so I finished him quickly just to get him done. He will be painted very soon (I've pledged it on a forum) so he'll be done by the next update...which is usually Sunday.

See you through the mossy peat!

Sunday sauntering...

Welcome to Sunday's update. I have deliberately left an update for a few days just so that I had a few things to show off.

Before I start, I'd like to welcome our newest follower; Phil C. Welcome Phil, I hope you enjoy your stay :).

So what have I been up to over the past few days? Well, I've had a few parcels turn up...

I received a parcel from Hasslefree Miniatures which contained a bunch of conversion bits and pieces and also a very cool little Mystic Panda which is shown next to a Grymn pilot here:

Click the Pic!

In amongst the same order, I received a bunch of Rhino heads which I have been using for my Games Workshop Space-Marine Terminator conversions here:

Click the Pic!

Click the Pic!

They are going to be 'Counts as' Space Wolves. The squad in the top pic is being led by Arjac, a special character.

I received another parcel from Fenris Games which contained a whole host of resin bases. I was going to put up some pictures of them today but I have been a bit too caught up with the terminator conversions and haven't had enough time to prepare them for photographs...so they will be arriving in a future update (sorry).

A further parcel arrived from E-bay with five plastic Terminators in. I now have a total of 15 which will be converted to Rhino-men as soon as I get around to it.

What...more parcels? You bet! I finally got my parcel from Renegade and the miniatures look lovely...just 2 weeks too late to be useful.

I think that is about it...I'm not sure if I already mentioned the Void miniatures from E-bay or the Plasticard/Milliput from Evil Mushroom Games...but I guess I have now :).

Finally, I have made a decision about the Ogarix. He was sitting there looking very sorry for himself and all because I couldn't make up my mind how to make his gun/club weapon so I have decided to make his weapon a purely close combat weapon. That means I have chopped the end off, tidied up the shaft and now have a direction to focus on. All he needs to be finished is a few bits on his hand, a bit on his shoulder and to tidy up the head of the weapon...I must get him finished this week. Here is a pic of the alterations:

Click the Pic!

On to other matters...I've actually managed to get a bit of sleep over the last couple of days so I am hoping it is the start of a trend.

I also managed to drill straight through the end of my thumb with my pin-vice. Fortunately it was only a 0.8mm drill bit so the hole wasn't as big as it could have been. It still bled quite well :)...so, everybody...take care when drilling...it hurts if you drill yourself!

I took the stray cat to the vet and managed to get a nicley torn up hand in the process. It's all very sore but it is also functional so I can't really complain. We now know that the cat is male, is between 7 and 12 years old, doesn't have an identity chip, WILL NOT ALLOW ITSELF TO BE EXAMINED, and has a really bad set of teeth. He's back to the vet on Tuesday to get fixed, one way or the other (depending on test results). We'll see!

That is about it...at last!

See you through the blood!

Tuesday Pix!

First up, I have got a small amount of progress on the Ogarix. He is now actually holding a very WIP weapon:

Click the Pic!

Don't take too much notice of the shape of the weapon just yet, as it is still only a frame. I plan to make the front end like a mace, with the square bit a power generator and the rest of the handle...a handle! It will be a dual purpose weapon that can be used as a club or a gun. As you can see, I still have lots of work to do.

...And now for something completely different...

Click the Pic!

Can you guess what is going on here?

Catch you later!

Sunday, 6 September 2009

Another Sunday Update.

Hello again! I've just got back from a nice stroll along the side of the River Thames and thought I'd post a bit early today.

Fist up, I have a bit more progress on the Ogarix. His left arm is nearly finished and I've started to detail his right one. Not shown in the pic is the start of his weapon, which is currently a twisted piece of wire coated in a finger-print covered layer of putty! Anyway, here's the pic:

Click the Pic!

Next up is a pic of the Grymn powered armour. As you will see, I have reworked the legs and completely bulked up the suit below the waist. I still have a little bit to do on the legs but I am fairly happy with the look so far:

Click the Pic!

As you can see, I have started to think about the arms. Please note that the gun arm in the picture has only been slid on the wire to show you the part that I was sent...it may not end up on this suit and if it does, I doubt very much if the forearm will look the way it does in the picture. The position of the arms will change and the length will be corrected to the right length.

I need to tidy up the legs a bit and I also need to add a few little details to the inside of the ankles.

Well, there you have it.

Catch you on the dark side.

Monday, 31 August 2009

Go on then...I couldn't resist!

I thought about it and decided to post some progress pix of the Ogarix. Please bear in mind that the arms are not fixed in position yet and they are still VERY WIP. As the pic states, the copper hand will hold a weapon so I haven't added any 'flesh' yet. You can see that the cap has been shaped a bit better and sanded down...still a way to go yet though:

Click the Pic!

Now on to what everyone REALLY wants to see; the Grymn Powered Armour. I have glued the legs in place so that I can get an idea of the required height but I will be completely changing them...they are much too spindly for the bulk of the suit. I have also trimmed away a bit of the codpiece so that it didn't look like he had a 'horse under there' with an unnatural, wide legged stance. The shoulders are just popped on loose. Tomlinz is for scale:

Click the Pic!

As you can see from the pic, the suit is MUCH more bulky than the original Torsten suit and really exudes POWER.

I'm not saying anything more about the powered armour...I'll let you all study it and make up your own minds...rest assured, I have some major plans for it!

I will not be showing any pix of the Grymn Walker until I have decided what to do with it...and that may take some time. For the two Grymn trooper blanks, just check out the workbench page on the Hasslefree Miniatures site.

See you on the flip side!

Wednesday...welcomes!

I wasn't going to post again this week until I'd got a bit further with my Ogarix but I have had an influx of followers so I thought I'd better return the interest with a few hellos.

Welcomes are going to Grekwood, TJ, Anevilgiraffe and Skullcrafts who have all joined the blog since Sunday...I think that is the most followers I've gained in a week! Thank you all for joining and I hope you find something of interest in Inso's World.

What is going on with the Ogarix? Well, he has had his arms fleshed out a bit and his cap covered in Brown putty. I haven't started on the weapon yet and will seriously need to sand down the cap to get it nice and smooth (then I can cut holes in it :D ).

As well as working on the big guy, I have been doing a lot of thinking about the next character; the shaman. I have a completely set idea on how he will look and also I am convinced that he should be bigger than the Agarix but smaller than the Ogarix. He will be different to the look of the standard Mushroom Men so far. I'm not saying anything else about the design because I want to surprise you. Finally...I haven't started it yet so I have nothing to show off at the moment.

At the moment, I am really suffering with insomnia so I am not able to get on with some of the more fiddly elements of the hobby. That said, being really tired expands the mind so I have got a head full of new ideas! I am looking forward to receiving my parcel from Hasslefree Miniatures so that I can crack on with some Grymn cavalry...not start the sculpting yet but just get the Grymn trimmed and cleaned ready for the putty to go on (I think that there will need to be a lot of conversion work on these...so I am taking a pre-emptive deep breath).

That's it for now; my ramblings are over!

See you on the bright side!

Sunday, 23 August 2009

Sunday again!

I have been busy again today and have steadily plodded along with the Ogarix. I have just finished sculpting what is pictured and the legs are still in the process of setting...so I won't be able to do much more today (without damaging what I have already done)...anyway, here he is:

Click the Pic!

Click the Pic!

What have I done? Well...I've altered the face a little (so that it fits in better with the little guys), added the gills under the cap (and if I NEVER have to do that again, it will be too soon!) and also built up the legs. Some of the leg anatomy is a little bit odd...but it's a giant walking mushroom...so I'm not really too worried about it.

Well...so far so good. I now have the cap, arms and weapon(s) to finish off and he'll be all ready for paint! I am hoping to have this finished (sculpt wise) by next weekend but it all depends on work and things like that.

I have plans for the weapon and the arms are going to be as long as the little guy's arms (but obviously to scale) so he'll be able to touch the ground without bending down...how else are you supposed to squash the humans?!

See you on the flip side!

Saturday spores...

Well, I guess it's the weekend again and time for another post...but before I go too far, I'd like to welcome another follower; Piotr Adamiak. Welcome to my blog Piotr!

So what's new? Well spurred on by my MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE!, I couldn't help turning my attention to a bit of heavy support.

The first thing I did was to twist up a bit of copper wire and cover it with some Milliput; building it up into a basic frame:

Click the Pic!

Next I put a few blobs of Green Stuff on the frame for the eyes, knees and toes so that they could set hard ready for a bit of putty to go over the top. Then I started building up the face and torso. What looks a bit like ears is where the arms will plug in.

Click the Pic!

As you can see from the pic, I have changed a few details so that it isn't a straight copy of one of the smaller ones (but BIGGER), namely the mouth and the bulkiness of the legs.

When the sculpt is finished, it will be completely green so you can see that I still have quite a long way to go. I hope to spend a bit of time on this one tomorrow so hopefully I should almost have the legs and body done...If I'm really lucky I may get the gills done too...

So...is it a hit or a miss?

See you on the flip side!

Wednesday Update.

Well, it is Wednesday and that means that it is the last day of my holiday so I will be back to work tomorrow. I've had quite a nice break pottering about, going shopping and chilling out.

Before I start the post proper, I'd like to welcome the newest follower to my blog. Welcome Mikkel Nyboe! I hope you enjoy your visits!

On to the hobby...The MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE! have progressed a little. I have assembled and painted all eight of them and just have the bases to texture and paint. Here is a pic of their current state:

Click the Pic!

I am quite pleased with how they turned out, especially seeing as they didn't really take too much work (not when compared to some of the camouflaged Grymn).

Speaking of Grymn, I have completed the conversion work on the desert veteran platoon. I could go the whole hog and put buttons on all of the pouches but to be frank, I can't really be bothered. The first pic below, is a front and back view of the command squad:

Finally, we have a front and back view of the second squad:

Each squad contains a Sgt, missile launcher, comms specialist and grenade launcher. The command squad has a lieutenant, comms specialist, Medic, melta-gunner and standard trooper.

If there are any questions/comments feel free to ask away!

I suppose the next job will be sorting out the bases for the MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE! and assembling the desert veteran command HQ ready for converting. I can't say when I'll get around to it but hopefully, it will be quite soon.

See you on the flip side!

Sunday INVASION!

Look to the skies! The invasion has begun!...

...Well, not really but I had an itch that I needed to scratch after seeing some cool conversions over at The Miniatures Page. What I saw were some converted Agarix miniatures from Hasslefree Miniatures and I was so taken with them, I had to have a go myself. Well the order arrived and I used some Hasslefree railrifles (trimmed down a bit) and a lot of little brass pins to turn the Agarix into these...MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE!:

I think they may be called Stroganoffians! Here is a scale pic with one of the Grymn desert veterans:

Speaking of Grymn desert veterans, I have been pottering along with the conversions and have finished 15 so far, with 10 more in progress. Here is a pic of the platoon in progress:

As you can see, quite a lot of work has been done but there is still quite a lot to go.

Tomorrow, we have family visiting so I won't get as much time as I'd like to carry on with the sculpting but I'm sure I'll get something done. I still have 4 more MUSHROOM MEN FROM OUTER SPACE to put togethr so maybe they'll get some of the days effort spent on them.

Who knows?

See you on the wild side.
