Tiger, Tiger...

Inso has been raving on about Tigers. It hasn't done any harm though...in fact, it seems to have spurred on some pipe sculpting activities:

Click the Pic!

The pipe is still in the early stages but at least there is a Tiger taking shape now.

So...why Tigers? Well, Inso has been on E-bay again and has won another couple of items. First he won a small army of Vasa troops from Void 1.1, containing:

11 Vasa marines.
7 Black Guard with wings.
8 Militia.
Knight of the balance.
a character model that he already owns and...
2 bikes!!!

All for a very small amount of money so Inso is very pleased (these will go towards his genetic infantry project...yes it's a very slow project but it will turn up again in the future).

As well as the small army he won his 5th Tiger APC...for a small fortune...but he is very happy to have another 'mint in box' Tiger on the way. In case you are wondering, here's a rather nicely painted picture of one, that I found on line:

Click the Pic!

So...5 Tigers...where will it stop?! Inso did say that he has no plans to tackle any of them until he moves to his own home...hopefully not to far in the future.

Sunday Updates.

Another Sunday and another update.

First of all, I'd like to welcome our newest follower, Brutorz Bill! WELCOME!

On to the update and Inso has, yet again, sent over a plethora of pix.

First up, Fin Dus has got pecs, back muscles and a few extra folds here and there:

Click the Pic!

Next comes a very small change on the ship's crew-member...a strap to hold his machine pistol in place:

Click the Pic!

Mr. Punch has had a belt added (again, not a lot...but it will help for the next stage):

Click the Pic!
...and finally, the alien overlord has had a bit of a lick of paint. Thanks to some zenithal priming, he has been painted slightly different to his minions but I think he is turning out OK so far...and he is now, most definitely watching you:

Watch the skies! They are coming...

Well...with Sunday being Sunday, Inso will be off to call the bingo again tonight so I doubt that there will be much more progress. I do know that he has been painting the three mystics from the ship's crew as well as doing all the other stuff here. He hasn't done too much but has started to highlight the cloaks and tidy up a few bits and pieces on them.

That's it for now.

Catch you later!...

WAIT A MINUTE! I forgot this one...the pipe has had a bit more work as well:

It is still very much in the build up but it is definitely starting to look more 'tigery'.

Bye Now!

Saturday Bonanza!

It would seem that Inso has been busy over the last day or so because he has sent over a bunch of WIP pics for us to look at.

First up is a beefed up Fin Dus. He has had a bit of shoulder definition added and a few areas of folds on his legs. He's also had his elbow joints made to be more realistic looking. Here's Fin Dus as he currently stands (there is still more work to do!):

Click the Pic!

Next up is the progress on Mr Punch. As you can see, his first fist has been added and he has gained the start of his armour. His mouth has been improved a bit and his legs have been beefed up. Again there is a lot more work to do but here he is so far:

Click the Pic!

One of the ship's crew has got some attention as well. The assault specialist has now got some more armour and is in the process of having a sidearm added...Inso is yet to name him:

Click the Pic!

Finally, we have a new addition to the Invasion Aliens from Griffin Miniatures. This is the Alien Overlord in a hover chair. Beware...the truth may be out there...but it is watching you!:

Well, that is it for now. Inso doesn't have too much to do tomorrow so there may be more updates to look at.

Oh...I almost forgot. Inso has ordered a few Lego parts for another project he has been thinking about for ages. It would appear that there are plans for a few Grymn vehicles...8 to start with (if he can stick with it!). It will certainly be interesting to see what is going to turn up.

Sunday 19 April 2009

Sunday again.

Well, it's Sunday again and it has been a wonderfully sunny day here in Inso's World. Today has been a day of grocery shopping and bottle recycling for the club. As a result, there hasn't been much progress on anything today. All that has been accomplished is a black undercoat on the Spugs, a bit of bulking up on the pipe-tiger and that's about it.

...oh, I almost forgot this:

Click the Pic!

As you can see, Inso has sent over a progress pic of his Golgo Dwarf. He has come up with the title 'Mr Punch' because he is going to have extremely large fists. He has warned me that this is still VERY WIP so the face isn't finished and neither is the rest! The arms still need a bit of bulking up so they look a little long at the moment but he isn't too worried about that. If all else fails he can rely on the background material for Golgo Island and say that Mr Punch is a little mutated. At the moment (without his flowing locks!) he is 25mm tall to the top of his head...so he is very much a Dwarf in 28mm scale.

Well that is it for now. As usual Inso is off to call the bingo again tonight so he won't be doing any more hobby work until tomorrow.

Saturday 18 April 2009

Saturday and a new update.

Well, it's finally happened. Inso sent these pix over and it seems that he has picked up his sculpting tools again. These don't show a lot of progress but there is a LITTLE and from little acorns, great Oak trees grow:

Click the Pic!

Findus (the Golgo Sculpt) has had a fin added to his head and some folds to his gloves, the Golgo Dwarf has had his upper arms added and the pipe has had a bit more Tiger Face added. There is obviously a long way to go on these but a start is a start.

Next up is a continuation of the Alien fixation. These are Spuggs from Spriggan Miniatures:

Click the Pic!

At the moment, they are just undercoated. Inso has said that they will be black/dark grey with highly contrasting details in red/yellow/green. They are basically Space Bugs and will be painted in a beetle style...it will be interesting to see how they turn out.

Well, that's it for tonight!

Another Alien Update.

Inso sent this pic over today and has said that it may not be finished...he's not quite decided yet:

Click the Pic!

He has been in conversation with members of the FoD and there is an issue over whether there is enough contrast between shade and highlight. These may well get a bit more shade at some point...after he has stared at them for a while and decided how to do it...or they may stay the same.

Alien Update!

Just a little progress on the alien front. These are finished apart from the bases:

The Grymn is there for scale (and he looks rather edgy and not too pleased to be there!).

Bank Holiday Invasion.

It is Monday and Inso is off work so he has been tinkering with his latest little project. So far we have had lots of aliens...so why buck the trend? It seems that Inso has a goal to paint every alien he can find; as this picture shows:

Click the pic!

The miniatures are Kiergi and they are from Hasslefree Miniatures. Inso has decided to paint them in a progressive way so that the smaller one is fairly brightly coloured and the biggest one is more dull/dark. Obviously, these are still very WIP but you get the idea.

Inso is twitchy at the moment. I don't think it will be long before he has his sculpting tools out again. He has been looking at his Golgo Dwarf and has been mentioning big gauntlets and superhero style face masks. That MUST mean that the sculpting bug is not too far away.

On a slightly different note, Inso's cupboard is nearly full and he needs to do a bit of sorting into cases. He can't sort until he has varnished all the minis he's finished painting...so at some point it will have to be a 'varnish day'. That will slow things down a bit but varnishing is something that he doesn't have to be too awake for so he will tick along with that when he isn't sleeping (as has been the case quite a lot recently).

Well, that's it for now. There may be another update later...there may not...who knows?

Saturday and 'The Truth Is Out There'...

Well, it is Saturday and Inso appears to have finished the Alien Landing Party:

Click the Pic!

He has kept them simple, in much the same way as the last aliens he did. He didn't want to add too many colours to the machinery/equipment as he was thinking that they were psychically operated so they didn't need coloured buttons and things. They still need varnish but are complete apart from that.

...So...what is next? I think the Starship Crew will be moving up the painting list again. However, Inso has got so carried away with the whole 'Alien Race' thing at the moment and has a few more left to paint...so they may get the effort...

Alternatively, Inso may start sculpting again. I wish I knew!

Monday Madness...

First up, welcome to ichawkins our latest follower!

Have you ever had one of those days where you put a few bids on E-bay expecting to be out-bid...but you win all the things that you bid on? Inso has. In fact, he had one of those moments on Sunday evening when he found out that he had won all of the items he bid on. Fortunately it wasn't like the last time it happened (first time on E-bay...£125-00 spent on model kits and that wasn't including postage!) because he only won two items. The down side is that he ended up paying £15-00 on a resin kit that would have cost £4-00 new and £12-00 on something that should have cost £7-00 new. Well, the items are Ground Zero Games resin vehicles and they were recently withdrawn from sale (due to problems with resin production) so some time in the near future, I'm sure that we'll get a few pix.

Inso has been attacked by Nurgle's Rot! He has a sore throat and some dizziness but the most weird part is that he has some really swelled up glands in his neck. In his own words 'I look like a frog'...it hasn't stopped him going to work though.

This weekend is a bit longer than usual, what with it being Easter. Inso has Friday and Monday off as well as Saturday and Sunday so he is planning to do a spot of sculpting. In fact, he has been saying lately that he needs to sort out his obligations. From what I understand, that would be a pair of Golgo Island sculpts, a pair of sculpts on pipes (the tobacco burning type) and maybe even a few Halflings. With everything that has been going on in the Inso household lately, he has got a bit behind with his 'things for other people' so he needs to catch up a bit.

Well that is about it for now.

Sunday Update.

Well, it's Sunday again and that means there should be an update...well, there is :).

Before I get onto that, I'd like to welcome our newest follower, leonmallett...Welcome!

Now onto the update.

Inso has sent over a single pic of the WIP alien landing party:

Click the pic!

I'm sorry to say that it is only a base coat pic but at least it is something.

Today Inso is poorly so he isn't going to have the enthusiasm for any more painting today. He has his Bingo calling to do tonight and from what he has said, he hasn't got the enthusiasm for that either (but he can't let all his ladies down so he'll make sure he drags himself to the club). I reckon it is just a case of man-flu myself...but I'm sure he'll insist otherwise.

Well, that's about it for today.

Saturday 4 April 2009

A day early...but...

It is Saturday and Inso has sent a few pix...

...but before we get on to that, I'd like to welcome Soapy and Rob, our latest two followers! Welcome aboard :) !

The first pic in today's update is a further WIP of the ship's crew. This is the only painting that has been accomplished on the crew and it is the start of the Mystics:

Click the pic!

As you can see, there is still a whole lot of work to do on these but it is a start. The dark green has been chosen to tie them all together as Sensai and pupils. The Sensai looks so delicate...but don't get on her bad side, she'll fry your mind with a glance!

Next is another of last year's Salute purchases. Funnily enough, it seems to be another batch of aliens. These are from Copplestone Castings and Inso has named them his 'Alien Landing Party':

Click the pic!

The pack is made up of five standing aliens and one in a weird crouching pose. Inso didn't know what to do with the crouching one...so he quickly knocked up a small, anti-gravity, support skiff. The parts for the skiff are a pair of display bases, a few bits from a 'vehicle command sprue' from GW and a bit of plasticard...all in all it took about 15 minutes to put together.

ANYWAY...

Painting has been slow because Inso has been painting his 'other' miniature. It is coming along nicely and as soon as he gets the go-ahead to show it off here, then he will do.

At the same time, the conversion of the remaining three starship crew-members has completely stopped.

On the subject of sculpting, did you know that there is a sculpting competition at Black Scorpion miniatures? Did you know that it is being advertised on the Forum of Doom (link on the right)? Did you know that the sculpting competition was to make 'Alien Critters'?...Well, you do now! Go over there, have a look at the competition and get sculpting!

There is also a sculpting competition over at Frothers Unite U.K. Inso isn't really keen on that one because it is to do with the 'zombie hunting' genre...but if you are interested, pop over to Frothers and have a look (WARNING...the language can be 'rustic' over there ;) ).

Well, that is about it for now. I hope there will be an update tomorrow...but with Inso, nothing can be certain!
