Is it Christmas?

Hello and welcome to Inso's World on Christmas day.

So... without further ado, Merry Christmas... and if it isn't your chosen festival, best wishes to you on your chosen festival.

Today has been a very quiet one for us. This is the first Christmas since we've been married that we have spent alone... just my missus and me... so we kicked off the day with a walk on the beach:

This was followed by a cup of flask-tea in the car, before returning home to open presents and sort out dinner. The Queen's Speech followed and now it is just a case of chilling out and enjoying a bit of festive cheer.

From a hobby perspective, I have found some time to get a small amount of sculpting done over the last week and have a WIP to show off:

I still need to up-armour the legs and crotch, add the lightning claws and replace the head with something more Squat styled... but it is a start.

I reckon I am going to see if I can get these legs cast up for me so that I can learn the system (and maybe allow a few sets to be sold on)... but I am in no rush because I have plenty to keep me busy at the moment.

Well, this week saw the delivery of the bulk of our new furniture and after Christmas we will be looking to thin down the boxes in the spare room by putting some contents into the furniture... which should also mean a bit of a purge again to get rid of the less essential clutter.

It never stops!

Well, that's about it for now. I hope you have a safe and happy new year's celebration.

See you from the beach!

DIY... DIY... DIY...

Hello and welcome to Inso's World again.

I'm afraid to say that this week has been a bit of a non starter on the hobby front because I have discovered that I needed to unwind more than I thought... which has meant that I have been a total slob and have flopped around like a fish out of water.

So if not the hobby, what have I been doing?

Well, we have ordered the bulk of our furniture which means we will finally start to get some decent storage up and running... that means my clothes will move from the kit-bag on the bedroom floor into some drawers, the documents will end up in a sideboard and some of the many items still in boxes will end up in some shelving/drawers/cupboards. All we have to do is wait a little while for it to be delivered... but it has been guaranteed for before Christmas so that will be a fantastic Christmas bonus.

In addition to that, our sofa arrived so we now have somewhere comfortable to sit, our kitchen table and chairs arrived a week or so ago so we have somewhere to eat and we have an awesomely comfortable bed that I seriously need to learn how to sleep in (it would appear that, no matter how comfortable a bed is, I am still able to lie awake all night). Basically, all of the little pieces are slowly coming together and we are getting to a position where our house is turning into our home.

I have also been doing lots of DIY but I am finding that every job I start, unearths a number of faults so things have to be done more slowly than I like... but I guess that is what owning a house is all about.

And that, I am afraid, sums up me week... apart from the trips to the sea shore... I have been doing that on the odd day and to be honest, everything negative just gets washed away for the time I am at the beach so the world keeps turning smoothly.

Hopefully, next week will have some hobby stuff turn up on here.

See you from a place of peace!

Monday 12 December 2016

I've had the starter... now for the main course.

I warned you I wouldn't be posting on Sunday so welcome to Inso's World on what has been a 'history' defining Monday.

Well... what a week it has been (again).

I have travelled from Cornwall upto Oxfordshire and been on the work's Christmas do (which was excellent apart from me getting a really bad headache and needing to go home early like some proper light-weight). The following morning, I had a pre-handover check of the house (which went well), then the rental furniture was removed the following day. After that it was a weekend of cleaning and house preparation ready for the handover which was today (and that also went very well). My accomodation for the weekend, was this:

I then drove back to Cornwall with no physical ties to my old house.

That means I have officially moved to Cornwall now. I think that our cat, Charmmy, is glad because I don't think she wants me to leave again:

As it stands, I still have lots of DIY and shopping to do for the new house but I plan on getting some sculpting time in at some point this week... so there may well be hobby stuff at the weekend.

With hobby in mind, I am going to have to really think about what direction I need to take in order to keep things rolling. At the moment, the only accessible hobby stuff I have is my box of Squats (and associated sculpting kit); the rest is all packed away in boxes in the spare room because I have nowehere to store it. We have limited furniture in a much smaller house so I am going to have to be a bit clever with storage and work areas. That said, I am a techy... so I should be able to sort something out! All it means is that until I start unpacking things, it will just be Squat sculpting for now... no painting or sculpting other things... just Squats... and repeat... and repeat... but on the bright side; my army should grow nicely.

So watch this space. I should be back to regular updates on Sunday from now on... everything back to normal again.

That's about it for now.

See you from my new home!

Sunday 4 December 2016

It's been a while.

Hello and welcome back to Inso's World.

The last four weeks have been the longest time without updates since the blog began but now that I have some internet, that should change... even though there won't be a blog post next week due to me travelling again.

So... it's time for an update on the situation.

We have moved now and my wife, cats, fish and snail all live in sunny Cornwall. I am in Cornwall at the moment but will have to travel back to the old house in order to hand it back... and that happens Wednesday through to Monday. Once that is done, I will be living in Cornwall permanently.

The house we have bought is quickly turning into a 'fixer upper' and on a daily basis, the list of jobs grows ever longer but it has certainly kept me entertained while BT messed us around with our internet connection (over a month and we don't have a phone line yet). There was also a lot of 'stuff' left behind in the shed and loft which has meant a few trips to the dump and charity shops.

On a hobby front, nothing has happened because I have been far too busy. That said, I have found some shops in the local area that sell some unusual kits and there are plenty of places to get supplies so I am happy about that.

Now it is just a case of me moving to Cornwall and finding some time to relax with a bit of converting or sculpting.

That is about it. I know it's not particularly interesting but hopefully, everything will settle down and I can get back to some sort of normality soon.
